Embracing Cultural Complexity: Holding space for mental health treatment through a cultural intelligence and trauma lens

The purpose of this workshop is to identify components of culturally responsive mental health practice of children, adolescents, and adults. Together we will explore intersectionality and examples of how cultural awareness, identity, and belonging promote healthy development, and how oppressive experiences around identity can interfere with mental health. Attendees will learn practical strategies for how to invite and integrate conversations around culture and identity to enhance person-centered, strength-based mental health care. This workshop will provide attendees with a learning opportunity to move forward with the understanding of cultural dynamics in a Trauma-Informed Framework.
