SUMMARY:Fall Conference 2024
DESCRIPTION: Date: October 17 & 18\, 2024\n Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM\n Location: St. Paul Event Center \nTitle: Going Deeper to Grow Stronger: Exploring the Racial and Cultural Impact on Identity \nJoin us as Kente Circles celebrates its 20th season of community service. Over the years\, many of you have participated in our trainings\, workshops\, conferences\, supervision\, and therapy. Throughout this journey\, we have observed a common desire among participants: the need to go deeper. \nThis two-day conference invites you to delve into your personal narratives\, deepening your understanding of your racial and cultural identity. Our goal is to create a safe space where we can collectively explore and liberate ourselves from historical narratives that may have influenced our self-perception and our relationships with others. Drawing from the foundation we’ve built with past conference attendees\, we aim to foster a deeper connection with your own identity. \nConference Highlights: \n\nExperiential Exercises: Engage in activities designed to prompt reflection and meaningful dialogue.\nMind-Body Integration: Explore the connection between mind and body and its impact on self-understanding.\nMindfulness Techniques: Learn methods to enhance self-awareness and promote inner peace.\n\nObjectives: \n\nExplore Depth: Understand what going deeper looks like for each of us.\nIdentity Liberation: Identify parts of your identity yearning to be freed.\nBreaking Free: Recognize your walls of protection and learn how to break through them.\nPower & Race: Evaluate how we relinquish power to race and racist practices.\n\nWe look forward to this powerful gathering of personal growth and collective healing. Save the date\, and prepare to be both challenged and validated in a journey towards deeper self-awareness and liberation. \n  \nSpeaker Bios \nDr. Kenneth V. Hardy is a Clinical and Organizational Consultant at the Eikenberg Institute for Relationships in New York\, NY where he also serves as Director. He provides Racially Focused Trauma Informed training\, executive coaching\, and consultation to a diverse network of individuals and organizations throughout the United States and abroad. SUMMARY:2023 Fall Conference
DESCRIPTION:RACE and Identity: Going deeper to grow stronger\nKCTI 12th Annual Conference 2023\nDates: October 12 8:30am-5pm & October 13\, 8:30am- 4:00pm \nLive & In-Person | Sheraton Minneapolis West Hotel\, 12201 Ridgedale Dr Minnetonka\, MN  55305 \nSummary: \nA two-day conference for people of color and white allies in mental and behavioral healthcare\, education\, youth services\, faith\, government\, activism\, and the broader community. \nAt KCTI’s 12th annual fall conference we will once again convene as a community and address the needs of the Black\, Indigenous\, People of Color (BIPOC) community. \nThis year we invite you to join us as we “Go deeper to grow stronger”.  It is our plan to continue to lean in to perusing JOY and Liberation. We will do this by exploring how we empower racism through practices were we relinquish our power.  In the process racism and racist practices take up all the air leaving little room for us to embrace other parts of our identity.  As people we often struggle to explore\, understand and embrace our strengths and or weaknesses because our walls of protection are built so high.  This protective defense traps the natural flow of learning.  It confines stuff on either side of the wall preventing a natural flow\, which stops growth from occurring. \nWe have invited Dr. Manijeh Daneshpour\, PhD\, LMFT\, Dr. Robin DiAngelo and others to share their experience and model how we can develop practices that allow us to see the walls that we have built  to protect us.  They will help us explore how to break free of these walls that now hold us captive. We must stand in our individual and collective power in an attempt to stop surviving and lean into THRIVING. \nOver the last eleven years\, with your help\, we have cultivated a trusted and supportive space for marginalized voices to be centered and cared for. Well over 3\,000 Indigenous\, Black and other members of communities of culture along with allied white bodies of European decent have accepted our invitation to be both bold and vulnerable while engaging in honest conversations. As we continue on in our mission to support participants toward communal healing\, we believe it is also necessary to continue to grow and expand our work and deepen our successes. \nObjectives \n\nExplore what going deeper looks like for each of us\nIdentify parts of your identity that desires to be liberated\nDevelop understanding of what your walls of protections are and how to break free\nEvaluate how we relinquish our power to race and racist practices\n\n  \nHotel Option:\nSheraton Minneapolis West Hotel –  for $148.00 USD per night \nKente Circle Training Room Block \nStart Date: Wednesday\, October 11\, 2023 \nEnd Date: Friday\, October 13\, 2023 \nLast Day to Book: Wednesday\, September 27\, 2023 \nClick here: Book your group rate for Kente Circle Training Room Block \n  \nSpeakers Information\n  \n\n\n\n\nDr. Manijeh Daneshpour is the systemwide couple and family therapy director and distinguished marriage and family therapy professor at Alliant International University in California. SUMMARY:From Race to Culture in the Supervision of Therapeutic practice virtual training
DESCRIPTION:From Race to Culture in the Supervision of Therapeutic Practice engages participants in\na process of cultural self-discovery in service to their ability to mentor and support their\nfuture supervisees in a similar process. This virtual workshop will address contextual factors\nof race\, ethnicity\, and culture and will consider dynamics of power and privilege that\nimpact the therapeutic and supervisory relationship. The workshop will be both didactic\nand interactional in nature. We expect there will be lively and informative discussions.\nThis workshop is largely experiential with some didactic sharing of cultural concepts\,\nprocesses\, and language. The emphasis is on “self-study” from a cultural lens. The\ntherapist and/or clinical supervisor is guided through the “cultural self-study” process in\npreparation for their facilitation of similar processes with their supervisees.
